Born in Tokyo in 1949. Graduated from Keio University, faculty of Business and Commerce, and Academy of Fine Arts, Munich, and Arts Academy of the city of Düsseldorf. He is an emeritus professor at Hamburg Univ.After graduating from Keio University in Japan, he moved to Germany and studied at two art Universities, then started to create his art works. Since 1994, he has participated in the activities of the Museum Insel Hombroich in Neuss, Germany, and to the present day, he has continued his creative activities in his atelier adjacent to the museum. Nishikawa’s works are produced in a variety of media and techniques, including drawing, painting, photography, and three-dimensional works. In particular, he has produced a number of sculptures that reminds of the organic forms of the natural world.  Moreover, he has worked on a number of public art and architectural projects.
